Two-up Lap Of Laguna Seca With Ducati's Doug Chandler To Benefit Action Fund
From a press release:The lap of a lifetimeWhat would you pay for a chance to ride Laguna Seca on the back of Doug Chandler’s Ducati? Fans attending Laguna Seca for the World Superbike round in July will only have to pay $2 to be in a draw to join Chandler on a hot lap of his home track, two-up, to raise money for the Action Fund, which will use all the proceeds towards the purchase and deployment of Air Fence for AMA Pro Racing.

The Action Fund now totals $184,294, thanks to a surge of repeat and new donations, and to the efforts of charitable organizations.For details of Fund income and how the money has been used, see the bottom of this post.Several of last year's contributors doubled their total contribution with repeat donations.

Action Fund Hits $182,378 For Purchase And Deployment Of Road Racing Soft Barriers, $17,777 For Dirt Track
Copyright 2002, Roadracing World Publishing, Inc.New contributions and a couple of new auctions have boosted the total amount of money raised by the Action Fund for the purchase and deployment of soft barriers to $182,378 for road racing and $17,777 for dirt track.The Action Fund is operated by Roadracing World Action Fund, Inc., a non-profit corporation which has taken over the work of the informally-organized Roadracing World Air Fence Fund establish in April 2001.New donations and auction proceeds on the road racing side include $120 from, $100 from Allan Lockheed, $100 from Jim Van Beek/Jupiter 8 Racing, $100 from Patrick J.

Road Atlanta Big Kahuna AMA National Will Feature More Soft Barriers Than Ever
Copyright 2002, Roadracing World Publishing, Inc.The AMA National scheduled for May 16-19 at Road Atlanta will feature more Air Fence and Alpina soft barriers than ever used before at an AMA road race.According to AMA Road Race Manager Ron Barrick, 44 sections--about 1232 linear feet--of inflated soft barriers will be deployed around the racetrack with additional sections held in reserve to replace any sections that become damaged.In addition to the Air Fence and Alpina soft barriers, 2200 haybales will be deployed around the track, Barrick said.The soft barriers being deployed at Road Atlanta include 20 sections provided by Alpina's rental service; Alpina's Dan Lance is arriving at the track with a four-man set-up and maintenance crew on Monday, May 13.Funding for the rented 20 Alpina soft barriers is being provided by Race Promotion Management (promoters of the race), Road Atlanta, American Suzuki Motor Corp., the Action Fund and private contributors.

AMA Pro Racing Will Deploy 36 Sections Of Air Fence At Road Atlanta National
Copyright 2002, Roadracing World Publishing, Inc.The May 16-19 AMA National at Road Atlanta will see 36 sections of Air Fence and Alpina Air Module soft barriers deployed in front of the track's walls.The Air Fence and Air Module sections will be supplemented by 1700 haybales, according to Cameron Gray of Race Promotion Management, the promoters of the event.Last year the Road Atlanta AMA National saw the first deployment of 15 Air Modules purchased as a result of Roadracing World Air Fence Fund (now known as the Action Fund) fund-raising efforts.
